One Am Whataburger Run with a book

I promise this is somewhat book related.
Alright this will be short because it was like maybe 5 minutes if that, but I have to share.
So I went to Whataburger to get something to eat because I was hungry, and when I asked my brother to bring me something home he said I'll have to come get you and then we can go. He came home with food, but never took me. (Let's just say I was a little pissed.) Anyways, usually when I go places I take my purse and in the purse I have my kindle and a regular book just in case I get stuck in a line or whatever. So I was sitting at the drive thru waiting for my order, and decided to read the book I had which was Identical by Ellen Hopkins while I waited for my food (usually they take a little longer) When the guy came to the window with my food, and noticed I was reading he's like what are you reading? James Patterson? He said some other names, but I didn't get them. I was like nope Ellen Hopkins. He said Oh, and he's like bet you didn't know I knew about that literature.

That is all
Do you ever have any encounters like this? It seems like lately I've quite a few. Some good others well not. :)

  1. LOL Ash! You seem to be having a lot of these sorts of encounters lately. I don't like the reaction of this one though. Sounds like one of those literary snobs. Next time throw your drink at him!

  2. I always carry a book with me, too. I haven't had this happen lately, but I love it when it happens because I find if someone's interested enough to ask what you're reading, chances are they like to read too and you can get a good convo going. Obviously not in your case though lol. And since it doesn't happen often for me, I'm glad I have my book blogger buddies to talk books with!

  3. Lan- I know right. In some ways it actually feels good though to know that someone can approach me because I have something that makes them feel good, and it makes me approachable. Does that make sense? I don't think he was being a snob. I could be wrong though. Maybe, I made it sound that way. I think I'm going to have to keep a little file going here with my book encounters. That just totally gave an idea.

Marie- I have to agree. I actually wish I could have talked to him more, but since he was serving my food in a drive thru line, and people were behind I figured I better go. It amazes me to see those that do because honestly he didn't look like the type. I feel bad for saying that because I know there isn't a type. It def caught me off guard. I love my book blogger buddies. I sometimes don't know what I would do without them now. I'm more honest with them then people I've known my entire life. (Those few know who they are)
